Joshua Tree Restaurants
A vacation is not a real vacation without great food. Luckily, downtown Joshua Tree is known for it's variety of highly reviewed restaurants, bars, and diners. If you prefer to cook or grill your own culinary masterpiece, there is a local Farmer's market and lots of nearby places to get fresh produce and supplies.
OUR FAVORITES
Crossroads Cafe - Crossroads Cafe sets the benchmark for Joshua Tree dining. Along with the stylish rustic ambiance you will always experience friendly service and high quality dishes. We can't help but recommend almost everything here. The breakfast, burgers, coffees, salads, and soups all taste exactly how you imagine they should.
Natural Sisters Cafe - Natural Sister's cafe is the perfect place to enjoy an organic coffee and lighter guilt-free meal or snack. Whatever is on the daily list of Vegan dishes is guaranteed to satisfy and exceed your expectations. Natural Sisters also offers a boutique of freshly made whole grain muffins, scones, and cookies, along with fresh Kombucha on tap. For a quick pick-me-up, we komhighly recommend "The Rock Climber's Revenge" shake.
Pie for the People - For your Pizza craving, Pie for the People offers NY style thin crust pizzas including a selection of speciality pies with gourmet ingredients, sometimes in unexpected combinations.
Country Cafe - If you are craving that classic home-style breakfast with meat, potatoes and eggs, this is the place to go. County Cafe was very much appreciated by Anthony Bourdain during his last Joshua Tree visit.
Royal Siam Thai - Joshua Tree has exactly one Thai food restaurant. By great fortune, we're convinced Royal Siam Thai is better than 95% of the 100+ Thai Restaurants in Los Angeles. If you are craving Thai food, you will not be disappointed.
FOR THE DIY CHEFS AND GRILLMASTERS
Farmers Market - Every Saturday, from 8am-1pm, you can get fresh organic produce while browsing the many tables of the local JT farmers' market. This is the perfect place to stock up on fresh fruit for snacks and grab whatever you need to cook up a masterpiece.
JT Health Foods - Located right next to Natural Sister's Cafe, this is the place to shop for Organic meat, fruit, veggies, sprouted grain bread, hummus, fresh nuts, spices, herbs, and much more. Make sure you get what you need here during the day as they close at 6pm.
Vons (off map) - The local Von's is located about 10 minutes from the Starlight Villas in Yucca Valley and is open daily 6:00am-11:00pm.
FOR THE LOCAL BAR EXPERIENCE
The Joshua Tree Saloon - Open until 2am, this is the local bar that is within walking distance to the Starlight Villas where you can drink, watch local bands, karaoke, people-watch, mingle with locals, and grab a juicy grass-fed beef burger.
UNIQUE DINING
Park Rock Cafe - Park Rock Cafe is located right next to the Joshua Tree Visitor's Center and is a nice place to grab a coffee or light snack before driving into the park. Be sure to represent your home town with a thumb tack on their world visitor map. The quiche and omelets are recommended.
Sam's Indian Food and Pizza - These owners can do it all. The Indian food is quite authentic and the pricing across the board is very reasonable. They also do Pizza, Burgers and Sub Sandwiches admirably and run a convenience store attached to their restaurant.
FOR THE LATE NIGHT MUNCHIES
Santanas - If it's past midnight and you crave Nachos, a Quesadilla, or a California Burrito with french fries inside it, never fear - Santanas is open 24x7 and even has a convenient drive thru.
